Cheap Flights to South Africa

South Africa is an incredibly beautiful country best known for being the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, its rich and diverse culture, and the many opportunities to connect with nature, whether on safari, lazing at one of its pristine beaches or hiking in the mountains, forest or winelands.

For many South Africans it comes as no surprise that the New York Times named Cape Town the number one destination to visit in 2014. Fortunately for you, exchange rates are at an all-time low, so there’s never been a better time to book a trip – and why not get extra ‘bang for your buck’ by choosing a cheap flight to South Africa.

Cheap flights to South Africa: Booking through TravelStart

Personally, I dislike most of the major booking engines. So it was a relief to discover cheap flights to South Africa do exist, and there’s a website dedicated to help you find them. Travel Start is a much-loved booking engine that allows you to not only to find flights, but also to compare prices.

The website is a fantastic place to look because it saves time – time that could be spent planning your carbon-neutral, socially conscious holiday. Travel Start acts as a comparison search engine, offering various options at the cheapest rates possible.

I’ve compared the prices they offer with that offered by the individual airline – and they’re definitely passing their discounts on to you!

All you have to do is add your destination and dates and a comprehensive list of flights and their prices will appear a few minutes later. You can then compare prices, stops and the length of different flights just by looking at your screen.

Hell, you can even book holiday packages, hotels and car rentals.
Once you have decided which flight you want, it is simple matter of filling out your credit card details and going through the usual process of booking online.

Staff from Travel Start will phone you within a day or two after booking your flight in order to confirm the booking and you can ask them anything you like about all things flight related.

If they are unable to help you directly, they will find someone who can. Travel Start has built a good reputation amongst South Africans as a result of this and every self-respecting tourist knows to do what locals do.

Carbon Neutral Flying: Keeping it green

Most people think that flying can't possibly be green. But you can still book your cheap flights to South Africa and do your part for the environment. Food & Trees for Africa has an initiative where you can offset your impact by planting a tree, or even donate towards a food garden or bamboo project.

Our carbon footprint calculator will help you work out how many trees you need to plant to be carbon neutral, and you can buy them before booking your flight. A flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town is the equivalent of one tree while a 17 hour flight from London to Johannesburg will be the equivalent of 4.3 trees.

Planning an off-road adventure? You can calculate how many trees you need to plant to be carbon neutral according to the type of vehicle you hire.

So go ahead and book your cheap flight to South Africa now. With 99% of tourists saying they would love to visit South Africa again and would recommend it to a friend, you can count on having the holiday of a lifetime.
