Our trip: A Carbon-neutral scooter safari through South Africa

FTFA banner

Packing light, going slow.

Myself, Melissa Andrews, a journalist, and Christopher List, a professional photographer, are riding two LML/Vespa scooter's for 9 months and 14,500km through all corners of South Africa (and Swaziland and Mozambique) on a carbon-neutral scooter safari. Our mission is to raise funds for Food & Trees for Africa.

Melissa Andrews and Christopher List We'll be exploring, filming, photographing, and documenting South Africa's natural beauty, the inspiring environmental projects that aim to conserve this and replenish what's been lost, and sharing our discoveries with the rest of the world.

We'll be visiting anywhere along the way that provides valuable exposure and press opportunities, including eco-villages, permaculture projects, sustainable building projects, green accommodation such as eco-lodges and eco-hotels and attending green events.

Look out for our scooters (dubbed Spud and Butternut) on the road!

Check out our scooter blog page for the latest blog posts and projects, or scroll down for more.

Hi, my name is Melissa and I created this site together with photographer Christopher List to help spread awareness about green lifestyles and travel, so everyone can learn how easy it is to live in a sustainable way. Enjoy!

I wasn't sure what a permaculture design course was about, until I read through Melissa's fantastic blog! I've signed up and soon I'll be a PDC graduate too.
